Black Americans currently disgusted that a pure White woman could become a leader in NAACP, don’t really know their history.
NAACP was started with white Jewish money and a few Black business people and intellectuals like Madam CJ Walker and WEB DuBois, who basically believed that if we acted European, we would be treated like one of them.
Madam CJ Walker became one of the richest African-Americans through the business of making Africans look European. She produced and traded in hair relaxers, straighteners etc
The lead intellectual behind NAACP, a mulatto present day mixed race, WEB DuBois, lived a life to prove he was as good as any white intellectual by earning doctorates in the best american universities.
Though the organization started to stop random lynching of Blacks at the beginning of the 1900s, it soon became the main civil rights organization.
Its main success was gained by appealing to the 2 main White institutions – the Judiciary and the church.
For the judiciary, it had brilliant lawyer Thurgood Marshall, who took the small window of opportunity of a liberal judiciary in place after the war. Within a short period of about a decade, NAACP got civil rights laws passed that were aimed towards integration.
For the Church, NAACP had Martin Luther King, a wonderful orator that could appeal to Christian values and morality.
However, by the 1960s, the mastermind WEB Dubois had become disillusioned upon realizing that Europeans will never accept africans as equal. Yes, they could agree not to be racist in public, but you can never legislate against thought.
WEB Dubois at the end of his lfe gave up hope of integrating and returned to Ghana where he was buried. But the dream was not buried.
Dr King had the dream, but when the dream strayed into the economic realm, he was terminated. Nobel peace prize gave him no leeway, when he addressed the plight of Memphis workers and questioned the military industrialist war in Vietnam.
Yet, the dream lived on of turning black into White. To help, more Jewish money was pumped into Black music, making the dream more visual as Michael jackson turned White.. Or black or white!
Black America is the 5th largest Black group in the world and surely the richest and most influential globally. So turning Black into White became globalized, taking africa along with it. Bleaching and racial intermarriage became the in-thing, as White-faced africans walked around with jet-black cracks (yansh in Nigeria parlance)
To the global African, the lines became blurred, but to the European, negroes will always be negroes, no matter the bleaching or blood thinning.
Light skinned and light thinking women became the ultimate. Many a Blackman ended up in jail or dead trying to fulfill the redbone. Even in Africa, the Nigerian president elect, MKO Abiola fighting for global slavery reparations was cut down by sending Black or White Susan Rice, who let him bring down his guard and poisoned him with a cup of tea. A cup of Black tea mixed with White poison put an end to Black economic justice. Hmmmn
To crown the black Dream of integrating to become white, White women overwhelming voted another White woman’s mulatto son, Obama, into the White House. Mission accomplished!
Though many of us suspected and shouted foul-play, the vast majority seeped deeper into the dream of turning White.
The White woman’s son was to pursue the most offensive foreign policy against Africa by any modern day US president! From ensuring for the first time ever, a true Black president, Gbagbo, the Ivorien president, was arrested in his white underpants and dragged to the Hague: to conspiring to the lynching and mutilation of Ghadaffi, the advocate of african unity on the streets. Not to forget the waging of a vicious propaganda campaign against a Nigerian President that dared industrial transformation. Nor the indirectly sponsorship of terrorists across African grasslands.
Even his father’s country, Kenya, has suffering a campaign of calumny and propaganda!
So much for Black but white Americans. Black White Supremacists. African Eurocentrics.
Then suddenly, Black America wakes up and finds a White woman at the helm of its main Black civil rights! Mtscheeew, na today? You have to be careful what you wish for! If you are not willing to defend Black political and socioeconomic space and wanna be white, whites will take up the space and still not allow you an inch in their own space. SIMPLE
The trick behind the US Asians business success is that they remained true to their ethnicity and kept their identity, not bothering what other races thought of them. Infact, the segregation helped to bring about ethnic unity and business cooperation, unlike Blacks that want to be White and therefore shop in white businesses, while Black business close down!
Thankfully, growing numbers of Africans are taking up their africaness across USA, bearing Yoruba names, learning the language and building socioeconomic bridges across Africa, but we need the majority.
Otherwise, Africans will be disappointed in the pipedream of becoming White.
Eventually, if care is not taken, they might become this century’s Jews airlifted to a desert after Holocaust. In terms of population, we have Nigeria, Brazil, Ethiopia, Congo, then African-Americans.
This is not only a cautionary tale for Africans in Diaspora but also those on the continent that want to be white than white and speak Oyinbo pass Englishman! They face a worse fate of being slaves on their own land forever!
All we need is to be truly BLACK and truly Proud of it.
