Enjoying unprecedented electricity supply in the last one week, I just can’t but ponder that there are absolute powers that dictate lives of majority, even of Presidents. And, they abuse those powers!

Yes, I witnessed on TV how the super Iron Lady Margaret Thatcher was politically overpowered and ushered out of Downing Street in TEARS. I remember her saying that less than a 100 men controlled the entire world.

However, I have not personally been aware of how an entire country could be punished for the sins of one man, the President. And he was helpless to help himself or his people.

The moment General Obasanjo wrote his damning letter against Dr Jonathan, I knew the power that be had deserted Jonathan. Aiye ti pada lehin e in Yoruba parlance. With Senator McCain openly abusing the president of another nation, I knew it had reached biblical proportions – in terms of the Principalities of the world.
Oil prices crashed. The currency crashed.

By the time he was sent packing last week, the country had been brought to a grinding halt with no electricity nor petrol. For an administration that oversaw the building of 10 private gas plants, increasing capacity from 2800mw to 5000mw, production fell below 1000mw, crashing the national grid.

Goodluck was overpowered and the whole nation or plantation had to suffer for his actions. Goodluck was to be driven back to Otuoke with no political fulfilment, apart from being a good negro that dare not look masta in the face. Not to talk of raising his voice to contest the result. After which the lights were switched on, and we went about our private lives. Those who give it a second thought will come to the conclusion that the Otuoke Negro was an akosibaro, whose bad destiny took us off track.

If I didn’t think deeper, I would blissfully enjoy the benefits of his exit without question. But it just can’t but bug me that what kind of world we live, if someone is refused the acknowledgement of his greatest works? Yes, am enjoying the power now, but what if Buhari offends the powers that be again and I return to no power, no fuel and God knows what next? We have seen such happenings in the Americas – Brazil, Cuba, Haiti etc

The only way to put my mind at rest is to ask what did he or others do that the powers came down so heavily? Was it Steel mills that can build arms, giving Massa opponents like the Chinese strategic contracts, or trying to go nuclear like Iran? Changing or challenging the economic and military industrialist status quo is the only thing that can warrant the total treatment – crashing of markets, devaluation, power and fuel shortages.

Which means that one out of three administrations might just take the risk to get its people long term jobs and face the same kind of treatment. Well, its not likely an army general, a zombie, will stray across the prescribed lines, so none of such for another 8yrs.

But hmmn, when a President can only beg in face of extreme provocation, you know the nation is the back pocket of a cabal that can close him and his goddamned country down. And God knows they shut him and the whole country down, and didn’t switch it on until he was outta the building and eating fried worms in Otuoke. Dem change the Goodluck name wey im mama give am to Badluck. Aiye maa le oo

Baba is still my baba, was all he could say, but it spoke volumes. Say Man pass Man, no be fight oo…

It would be apt to now add an extra verse to Fela Kuti’s classic Power Show track.
‘Clueless President, you no know me sha,
I be kingmaker for Nigeria.
I be arranger for America
You go suffer for nothing! You go suffer for nothing.
Stupid civilian! Nonentity!
Na dat time they go start dem POWER SHOW!
POWER!!! SHOW OOOO
